The cap on my FP doesn't "snap" on. Is this repairable? What I'm looking for is DIY instructions to disassemble the pen/cap.

Exclusive cap is supposed to snap. Is the cap itself loose when you try to post it?

No - it's more like a friction fit so it's not loose. I tried using different caps and they do "snap" on. So the problem is in the cap.

My Exclusives snap on, and when posting. I wonder if your cap has become de-magnetized? headsmack.gif

Where is Dr. Melnicki!? Bet he could explain it.

(z) I am not a doctor yet.

(y) you better not jinx me.

(x) I have never used a Waterman exclusive. I have no idea. But let's look at our snap cap pens. It seems there is usually a ridge inside the cap halfway through, and the section flanges out just where it meets the nib/feed. Presumably the flange is just a hair larger than the ridge, and is supposed to catch on it if you use some force. Maybe the ridge wore out? Sometimes those ridges are attached to an inner cap; maybe that got moved?

(w) ask this same question in the repair Q&A forum.

I'm embarassed. I studied the cap and it's held together with one small philips screw. After taking the screw off, it came apart. The top cap had to be jiggled but it came off. As you can see, the inner plastic liner is cracked. I checked my other Exclusive pens and there was only one that did not have a screw. I'll have to figure this one out later. I still would like to know how to take apart the nib section.
