I just got a new Vanishing Point today and I'm trying to use the converter but when I try to suck ink up into it nothing happens. I don't even seem to get a small amount of ink into the converter at all. I'm following the instructions on the insert from the box.

Does anyone has any suggestions?

Make sure the converter is attached tightly and the nib is submerged completely (up to the steel housing). I think the nib not being submerged completely would be the problem here. If it doesn't work, something could be faulty with your nib unit or your converter. Try sucking straight to your converter or blowing water through your nib unit to isolate the problem.

Thank you for your reply. smile.gif

I cleaned the nib and the water ran through it like it should. I put the converter as tight as possible into the nib so I hope it was in there properly. I did try sucking the ink straight into the converter and I couldn't get that to work so maybe that's where the problem lies? As a last resort I sucked the ink into a syringe and put it in the converter. I'm hoping that will at least be a temporary solution.

Sometimes the VP converter clicks into place as you "screw" it in.

Another suggestion, because those converters are coated with manufacturing oils on the inside: make a 1:10 plain ammonia-water mix and add a drop of clear dishwashing detergent, and flush the nib and converter with that mixture, followed by clear water rinsing.
