I think that I might have found a nib that doesn't suffer from Noodler's ink creep. Inspired by a message posted here a while back (possibly by Tom/'OldGriz'), I've just bought a Pelikan calligraphy nib (1mm) from The Pen Museum. The ordinary gold-plated stainless steel nib (fine) on my M200 suffers from pretty bad nib creep with Noodler's inks, but the new calligraphy one (which is uncoated stainless steel) hasn't shown any signs of seepage since I filled the pen two days ago. It's a miracle!

That was probably my suggestion biggrin.gif

Anyway, are you satisfied with your 1mm steel nib? Mine from Pen Museum is a bad starter and skipper, possibly due to baby-bottom problem sad.gif

Sorry for getting the wrong person, Saintsimon! (I tried to find the post using the 'Search' function, but nothing was showing up.) I'm really pleased with my new nib. I thought that it was skipping at first, but I now think that this was just my total inexperience with calligraphy nibs. It's going to be a slow learning process, I'm sure, but I think that I'm getting somewhere now, as I'm no longer getting too many broken strokes.

AWWW GEEEE... and I was patting myself on the back for doing something good tongue.gif tongue.gif

Oh well back to the cat and ninetails... wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

Glad you did find what works for you.... I have a .7 cursive italic from Richard on my M200 and have not had any creep with Noodler's RedBlack at all..
NeilB
Don't worry, Tom - you have done something good. tongue.gif The scan of your writing with your new Binderized nib has made me put Noodler's Red-Black on my 'must buy' list.

doesn't surprise me. I notice less ink creep with some nibs, most with my 14K single-tone Pelikan nib. though I got significant nib creep on a VP nib when I had Legal Lapis in it. (no longer use that ink in that pen for other reasons.) You can imagine a nib as small as the VP nib being a bit overwhelmed by ink creep. smile.gif

The nibs on my Filcao Atlanticas don't suffer from Noodlers creep, and my Sheaffer Prelude is pretty resistant too. I wish the Noodlers creep didn't bother me, but I really do like bright, shiny nibs - part of the reason I've moved toward Waterman, Sailor and Namiki inks lately.

I'm share your love of bright and shiny nibs, Ryan. I do love the Noodler's colours, but nib creep has been putting me off a bit recently. I tried Noodler's Walnut with the calligraphy nib this afternoon, incidentally, and there was no creep at all.

In my experience, it depends on the ink used. I, for example, have just mixed Noodler's Gulf Stream Blue with another ink and tried it out in my old Platignum medium italic fountain pen. The nib on this pen is extremely cheap, just thin, folded stainless steel, no tipping or anything. It got all blotchy with blue after a couple of days.

Some of the Noodler's inks do it and some don't. I have not seen the non-waterproof inks do it. The Noodler's Black doesn't do it much at all, just puts a little "film" over the tip which I wipe off with a damp cotton swab. Devil Red is pretty aggressive with nib creep.

All in all, I'm willing to put up with it for the sake of waterproof-ness. And it may be an ink by ink, nib by nib sort of thing.

Creep????? huh.gif

Funny, but I thought it was my imagination. I just started using Noodlers, and I find the Luxury Blue keeps showing up on the top of my nib after the pen has been sitting for a while. I thought I was just being picky or loosing my mind.

I am glad to see that others have this exprience.

For me the benefits of a permanent ink that will not harm my pen, out weigh the little ink on the nib. I just wipe it off and get on with things.
