I have been discussing this tool with Jesy Kullock (Ariel's sister) for some time... He has not been making them because of the minimum he needs to make and the price...

Jesy said that they would need to have a committed order for at least 10 of these tools at the price of $50.00 each...
I will be at the Columbus Show in November as will Jesy....
I asked her if I could get a commitment for at least 10 tools if she would have them made and bring them to Columbus...
This tool looks similar to the Parker Vacumatic wrench, but is used to hold the Aerometric assembly to facilitate removing the hood from Aerometrics...
It works just like the Vacumatic wrench and is a big help when working on 51 Aeros...

I doubt very much if I can front the money, but if you are willing to commit to one of these tools and pay up front, I will be the middle man if Jesy can deliver them... if not everyone gets their money back...
As soon as I get enough commitments I will contact Jesy and see what she says....
I will handle shipping them, unless you are Columbus, then you just pick it up... obviously I will ship them at cost...
Here is a picture of the tool

Why not just use the filler wrench for the oversize Vac-filler unit?

I did not know it would fit... did not think it was long enough.... or the right thread

A demi will fit just fine. But the standard size units can get stuck in the FPH wrenches. Been there..... Ariel's wrenches do work better.

Don't the Aero Barrels have triple lead threads and the filler nuts have single lead threads?

If so, wouldn't using a single lead wrench on the triple lead plastic thread make a mess?

Fully right Todd !

as long as the pitch matches, the tool is not going to know if it has triple, quadruple or double start thread. It could be a "comb" shape for that patter with no pitch and it would work good. That said, 50 bucks for that tool is a bargain. If you need logistics help down here contact me via e-mail.

Hummmm. A triple lead 36 tpi thread is cut as three 12 tpi threads each starting 120 degrees apart. I don't see how it can work but if others are using a vac wrench it must work fine.

I do agree that 50 is a bargain, cutting triple lead internal threads at this small diameter is a real pain and takes a special threading tool as well.

Todd

EDIT: Fixed a typo the 12 was typed 13..

jicaino,
The combined pitch may match, but the lead angle an a triple or quadriple thread is 3 or 4 times larger.
So risks for damaging and messing up the plastic threads using a single lead tool on a multilead are very high.

If you can't make Columbus, I would be glad to be the middleman... collect payment and then post it to you when I know how much postage will be...
Most likely USPS First Class in a padded envelope...

Thanks Tom,
I'll take you up on it if the lovely and gracious Mrs. Jenkins fails to see things in a "fountain pen friendly" way.
