I just purchased an Esterbrook Double Jewel Pen/Pencil set on eBay Here it is !!... more than likely paid more than it was worth to a collector, $28 inc shipping. BUT this one is engraved with the FFA (Future Farmers of America) logo on the top caps of both pen and pencil.
Since my FIL's farm is across the road and my little girl has decided that when she grows up she is going to be a farmer (that is unless I can convince her that being President is better, tongue.gif tongue.gif ) I decided she had to have these... I even have a nice new medium 9XXX nib for her to put on it when I resac it..

Here is the problem the pencil has part of the grasping prongs missing and is not working. Is it possible to get this fixed REASONABLY... Even canabalizing another pencil...
The seller is offering to give another pencil, but it is not the same color and does not have the engraving...
I am taking the original set whether the pencil is repairable or not... just for the FFA emblem... but would really like to fix it if I can...

Tom,

The way I read the auction, it sounds like he is adding the brown pencil, as in additional rather than replacing the blue one. Is this correct?

I know nothing about how to fix pencils, but I think if you are getting the pen and two pencils, you have gotten a very good deal. Even if it is only the one pencil, I still think you did all right.

I'd bet you can swap out some parts from the other pencil to make the blue one functional. While I'm not an expert at repairing pencils, there are only a few parts to them and they can be reasonably taken apart. Let us know what it looks like when it comes in!
