I have a Wality 77C, and it has an odd odor--I think it is simply from the plastic, but others say they don't have the odor with other models. It is finally almost gone after very extensive rinsing. Anyone notice this?

Is the odor coming from the barrel/cap or the feed? I still can't detect any funky odor on my Wality 52, but I'll certainly check my 69L when it comes in.

I own a Wality 69L piston filler. It is a GREAT PEN!!!. I repeat: IT IS A GREAT PEN!!!! :bunny1:
But it has this funny smell, and I read somewhere (on FPN?) that this is the ebonite feed, which gives off a sulfurous odor.
The 52 I owned recently also had it, my 69 eyedropper (which I owned some months ago) had it, and my 77D did NOT have it. I guess it has another feed. I hated the 77D, because it skipped like a kangaroo and it the cap scratched the barrel badly!
Did I mention that I love my 69 piston filler?

I can't imagine the odor coming from any place other than the ebonite feed. Upon examining the feed on my 52, it does have a slight odor, but not strong enough to notice until I place the feed right under my nose. I checked the barrel, cap and they emit no odor whatsoever.

Yes, my 77C stunk as well. Very odd odour. I can still smell it midly sometimes through the ink.
I can only suggest a lot of rinsing :/.

Got my Wality 69L eyedropper today, and it sure did smell. It's strange how my 52 didn't have such a stink. My 69L had a funk that reminded me of old Army surplus. Rinsing in soapy water helped, though.

Just like to add that the first 69L I bought didn't smell at all but the new 77C and the new 69L I bought did (there's only very subtle differences between my old 69L and my new one so I don't think it could be related to the model :/).

Probably related more to how long it has aired out. Soap H2O and air would probably help. When you said new did you mean new to you? Or new from the factory? Just my $.02

That's how I minimised the scent on my 69L. Soapy water, and let it air out for a day or so. The smell isn't as pungent as it was when it arrived from Retrodesk.
