Full Version: Yet another New UK pen show!
The Fountain Pen Network > Miscellaneous > Clubs, Meetings and Events
ianpwilliamson2
After the success of the recent Midland Pen Show we have decided to stage the South Western Pen Show on February 21st 2009. This new show will be held at the Bristol Hilton which is situated about a minute away from the M5 motorway and is very, very close to the M4 more details will follow and I'll let you all know when the website is up and running.

This event is in addition to the Midland Pen show which will be staged again in Lichfield sometime in June 2009.

So good pen folk we will have four pens shows to look forward to next year:

South Western Pen Show - February 2009
The Northern Pen Show - April 2009
The Midland Pen Show - June 2009
The London Writing Equipment Show - October 2009

Still a long way to go to catch up with our American cousins but we're getting there!

Ian, I think I'm going to have to ask for you to be banned from the forum before you manage to bankrupt us all (or just give us ink poisoning) laugh.gif

.... You wanted shows - you got shows!!!! thumbup.gif We'll have to start organising charabanc trips to them! I'll have to speak to Christine and Phil at Diamine to see if they can get some new colours out for the show lticaptd.gif By bthe way, while I think of it, which of my Sheaffers were you vaguely interested in?

Please, please, not more new colours, I'll have to buy new pens just to cope wink.gif
Here's a crazy idea with reference to the idea of get togethers through the year. I've no idea whether it would be possible or how interesting it might be, but would it be possible to arrange a tour of Diamine (or Conway Stewart or somewhere).
As for Sheaffers, I was just happily eyeing up anything with a triumph nib because I love the look of them and was very taken with the little red striped tuckaway. Do tell, what was the mid-brown with blue Parker? Lovely little thing, I was looking at it at the Northern Pen Show as well and then forgot all about it until Sunday. If I set eyes on it again then you may well find that it's heading off to a new home with me smile.gif Had to do a little bit of hunting, was it a Moderne? Pic pinched from PenHome website.

Well spotted it most certainly was such a pen, the colouring is absolutely wonderful. It would probably be possible to organise a small group visit to CS, a visit to Diamine might be a little more difficult but I can ask. We ought to also think about getting visits organised to some of the European pen shows as well.

The joys of the internet, identifying a pen based upon colour and the idea that it's going to be 1930s and then hitting google (and here) smile.gif I do love the cheaper 1930s Parkers and Parkettes, my little Televisor was my first button filler repair. Keep wishing I'd brought that little Moderne home with me, it was a stunner.

European Pen Shows - I've only been abroad once!

Very Good

thank you for organising this event .. I've never been to a pen show but it must be very stimulating & informative to see items in the flesh as opposed to trying to gauge size, shape & nib qualities from only photos ..

I've been watching the webcasts from the DC show in US last weekend and I was soooo envious that we have no suuch events in Poland.
So... I did something crazy yesterday smile.gif
I booked plane tickets to London for me and my girlfriend to attend The London Writing Equipment Show in October! biggrin.gif
Any of you guys been there last year and can share some thoughts? Is there any report from last year's show to read somewhere? Will there be any pen collectors/nibmasters well-known in FPN community I'll have chance to meet in person?
robeck
OOoooH, YES YES YES!

That's only 30 miles from me. It's the month of my birthday too so I'll be looking to buy.

Can't wait.

Thanks for organising.

Same here - never been to a pen show before, but I am looking forward to going along to the The London Writing Equipment Show in October. Apart from the show, it will be nice to meet up (hopefully) with some of you guys that I only know from the FPN.

Perhaps one of you artistic types could design a FPN name badge we could copy and wear at pen shows to ID one another?

Great idea Roger. thumbup.gif It would be a shame to travel to London and not get to meet anyone from the FPN

Not the greatest timing for me either, but having just been to the London show, I am looking forward to it very much.
