I wasn't sure where to put this but since I'd rather people *not* focus on my penmanship.

I finally bought one of these today. I'm seriously impressed. These are sort of a cross between a fountain calligraphy pen and a poster nib. The flow is great, this bright red Pilot ink impressed me, too.

Note that the normal messy handwriting is written with the same pen - just on the edge. And it is surprisingly smooth to do so. Not iridium point smooth, but much better than I expected from two thin plates of steel.

I've heard many good things about the Pilot Parallel pen. I really want to get one myself, but I haven't been able to find anyplace that sells them, locally or even within this country. KCat, may I ask where you purchased it? I was hoping some of the local art supply stores where I live might carry them, but I remember reading somewhere that Pilot has an agreement with their parent company that they will not be sold or marketed in the US. Though I could be totally wrong!

Hi Ted.

I appears that Pilot has changed that though I think that was true for a while.

Leslie pointed out paper & ink arts. John Neal Bookseller also has them and they were on sale for a good price. But ultimately, the shipping and handling would have put them at the same price I paid.

I got this at Texas Art Supply which is a rather large warehouse-like supply place in the Houston area. They had a full display with ink cartridges (albeit only one package of each.) I've been looking every time I go there just in case and this time, yay! The price was $17.00. most of the mail order or on-line sellers have them for $15 before S&H.

If TAS has them (and presumably legally given the display rack they were on) then I suspect other art stores will eventually carry them.

I want to add calligraphy/art pens to my collection.

I guess I know what the next toys...ummm...tools...ummm...essential items will be. biggrin.gif
