When you are assembling a feed and nib back into a section, should you do anything to the under-surface of the nib to enhance its capillarity with the top of the feed? I am thinking of the things we do to dip pen nibs to get the ink to spread over the surface.

When I remove a nib and feed from a section, I clean out all the gunk and give the nib a full polish...but apart from that - nothing. And I've not had any kinds of problems...

NO, just clean it.... do not use anything abrasive.... I use qtips with either a 10% ammonia solution or for real dirty nibs I use Rapidoeze which is a technical pen cleaner and removes even india ink.
