Morning greetings from DocNib's PenEmporium! There's something about the early dark-stained wood cabinets (from teens & 20's) that's just so hard to resist! Found an Esterbrook dip-pen cabinet with the hinged glass lid & gold lettering fully intact underneath, 12 compartments w/an assortment of steel or brass Estie dip nibs (lost count, but over 400 of those little suckers!), original nameplates on 10 of the 12 compartments (2 were left blank) and a large storage drawer in the back.
Now from the graining on the wood, I would say the outer portion is Oak and Pine for the inside of the drawer and inner treatments...

On the slanted portion of the case is a display card with 1-each of what nibs originally came with the unit back in the teens or 20's, each one held in by an elastic strip and the style # below (very lightly)...

Here is the list of names/#'s:
14 Bank Pen, 048 Falcon, 128 Ex. Fine Elastic, 130 Easy Writer, 182 (?), 312 Judge Quill, 313 Probate, 314 Relief, 322 Inflexible, 442 Jackson Stub, 556 (?), 788 Oval (Ball) Point...
The card has one of each nib on it, but doesn't match up to all the name-plates above--#369 Maritime (no examples in the stock) and #239 Chancellor Pen are two of them not on the front card and also a #499 Music Pen nib. There are also some other brands mixed in like some #30 Spencerian Falcon, #05 Spencerian School, Eagle 550 Music Writer and even one McPike Drug 084 Falcon. Suffice to say, there's a nice variety of nibs to choose from that should last you lot of years!
As for the dimensions of the box, the wood-framed hinged glass top is 11"x14", the bottom of the unit is 13-1/2" deep by 13-3/4" long and 5" high at the back & 3-1/2" high at the front (due to the angle). The outer surface shows some normal scuffing/scratching from all the years of use but really is in good condition for it's age. There is one ding in the wood at the top left corner below where the lid rests and one other dinged area above & to the left of the nib-card. As for the gold lettering, this is in primo condition and really is distinctive. The whole unit weighs over 5-lbs. since it tips my 5-lb.MAX scale, but shouldn't be much higher than that. All-in-All, the cabinet w/nibs is in Very Good condition...
