Please let me know what you think. It's paid for so I will be anxiously awaiting it's arrival from England. I hope I got a good deal, it was under $115 including shipping from the UK.

Here's the entry from Johnathan Donahaye's site about the CS12 - http://www.ftic.info/Donahaye/ConwayStewar.../page1.htm#cs12
I was very nearly tempted by a CS12 at the Midlands Pen Show today. I do like the marbled red with gold veins that you're getting smile.gif The CS12 isn't one of the more expensive pens, but is still nice in my opinion. I've yet to come across a vintage CS nib that I don't like. I'm sure you'll like your pen.

Thank you. Believe me I read the info from Jonathan Donahaye's site at length before deciding which model to bid on.

I finally decided that I just liked the color enough to acquire it. I have be surfing all the sites for several days and for a first CS and one I plan to use, not just collect. I did not want to spend a fortune.

Red CS 12 is really a slim beauty. I used to have one but lost it while I was visiting Taiwan. Still looking for a replacement.

Phroneo
Greetings,

That looks like a very nice pen you've got in that CS 12. I think that you'll find the nib to be both very smooth and responsive to your hand - it should glide across paper.

If I remember correctly, the CS 12, 15, and some 70 and 80 series pens were made of casein. I had one and let it soak overnight in water (before I knew better (that's how I learned to know better)) and it went to mush. I think that the pens with the gold veins in them are made of casein.

This means a few things to you. It will warm to your hand and feel more comfortable the longer you use it to write and you do not want to soak it in water rolleyes.gif .

Congratulations on a wonderful new vintage Conway Stewart. Happy writing.

Peace,

Phroneo

The shape is fine, i'm not a fan of celluloid patterned pens, reminds me of 70's formica! Some are so bad they look like an acid trip gone wrong!
