Any reviews or opinions on the Parker Frontier or Latitude? Are they any good, worth my money, for writing a long time with etc...

Can't really tell you much about the Latitude, however the Frontier is very light (after all, it's just plastic) and the rubber coating of section gets ripped by something in the cap quite fast.

Parker Frontier tend to be wet writers (M nib). My only problem with the pen is its cap being loose from due time say 4 years.

I think you're thinking of the Reflex. The Frontier has a solid plastic section.
They tend to reasonable value-for-money pens, reliable, with a medium-wet nib, but showing little character, unlike my Sonnet. The only problem that gets regularly mentioned with the Frontier is that the cap may become loose after some time.

I can't comment on the Latitude, though, as I've never used one.

No no, I way referring to the Frontier. If you take a close look, there is a very thin rubber coating on the section.

Thanks for answering. I´m just gonna go with my personal Holy Grail, the Lamy 2000, and stop fussing about....

I realize there is something I actually can tell you about the Latitude. The cap scratches the section. Not deep, but very fast. I had it in my hands for about a week and after that time the marks were quite visible.

Okay, having a closer look, you are correct. I had always assumed it was plastic. I've never had it damaged, though, while I have had the rubber section on Reflex pens (fountain and ballpoint) ripped open.

The rubber on Reflex goes down like nothing. However there has been a thread here (and experience of my friend proved it) that there is something inside the cap of some Frontiers that rips the rubber. Not on all of them, though.

Personally I like the Frontier. I only have the Latitude in ballpoint which is a nice pen. It gets comments. With regard to the Frontier FP I have 5 in all the same finish - Gold plate trim and stainless steel. I have used the same one every day for the past five years and it has held up well - darn near bulletproof. I've carried it in pants pockets, bottom of briefcase and the darn thing writes even when leaving it for a week or two - don't try that with the Sonnet, which is a higher end pen and if you leave it for a few days is a hard starter.

The only things I've noticed about my Frontiers is the cap scratches the barrel which works out good with a bit of fine steel wool and simichrome. Though it doesn't bug me on this particular pen - now on a Waterman Carene black laque that bugs me. I have one where the rubber padding on the section has come off but it still works good with the hard plastic underneath and doesn't let air in to dry it out. My daily user still has the original slide converter in it and works good. Though Frontier medium nibs tend to run on the Broad side I kind of like it. I use my standard one and the one with the rubber that came off the section and the other three are sitting mint in the box (Parker discontinued them for awhile and I went into a tailspin and thought I needed to keep extras just in case).

Can't go wrong with a Frontier. I liken them to a modern poor man's version of the 51:)

Oh yeah one more thing. If you get a Frontier you'll notice after a while it seems like the cap will wiggle and fall off. Nope the wiggle is normal and it stays on pretty good and still doesn't dry out the pen.
