Hi

Today I've been crawling around in the wild after finishing my work. I found a nice little trio for next to nothing. No Sumgai's, just a couple interesting beaters.

So here's your subject find:

Thought it might be a good donor pen (the nib in particular) until I looked closer.
What is it?

Looks vaguely like a Parker pseudo-Challenger, though i cannot quite tell in the pic if it has a blind-cap

I've seen examples of the red Sheaffer (middle) in flea-markets and pen-shows etc before...but I can't figure out exactly what it is...Not sure what the others are.

---

David, I think I can see a slight seam of a blind-cap with the topmost pen...or it may be my eyes playing tricks on me...

---

I did a bit of searching and poking around. I'm guessing the red Sheaffer is a Touchdown or a Snorkel (Is there a difference between the two? I always get confused...).

Ok, I was saving the middle one for the next quiz but I'll address it now. You are so hot you're almost burning up. Coincidentally, you happened to select an example of the specific model correctly without seeing the cap off of mine. You don't quite have the series right. Many should be able to get the series by the comparison shot next to the others.

Can't tell you about the subject of this quiz, but I suspect the other two are an Admiral (Snorkel) and a Fineline. Can't quite tell whether the red one is a TD or a Snork, but it looks long enough to be a Snork.

Well gee-whillikers...and I was just taking a shot in a dark! laugh.gif

Right on the money, Martius. The Snorkel is an Admiral model.
The Fineline is rather easy with the clip. Lets see how good you are. Fineline what?
Take a closer look. The hint is a bit hard to see, but it's there.

Does this help, David?

I'd also think this is something Challenger-ish.

Yupper! BP is right! Check the bump on top of the clip. That signifies a BP in your pocket without uncapping; you can feel it with your fingers.

I do believe you're right, Squelch. David I too.
The interesting feature on the burgundy marbled Parker on top is the fact that it sports a translucent area (this one in red) at both ends (barrel & cap) similar to the Hundred year Waterman.
