I recently acquired some nibs from a collector while visiting in Australia. The nib bases were narrow and none of my existing pens could fit them. After awkwardly trying to make some wooden handle (I don't have lathes, etc), I remembered I have FIMO (oven heat hardened modeling clay) in a cupboard.
I pre-molded the receiving end with the nib and put the handle (minus the nib) in the oven for 20-30 minutes at 275-300 degrees F. It did the trick, though the nibs turned out to be only fair. They are simply dip pens, but the FIMO handle is secure.
For those familiar with FIMO, amazing things can be done with this modeling clay. Sure beats using a rubber band and a popsicle stick.
