Full Version: Waterman Carene Stub Nib!

I don't remember how I found out about this, but Swisher Pens sells a Waterman stock Stub nib for the Carene. It is not on their website - I had to ask for it, but they ordered it for me and it arrived this week. Man - what a fantastic stub it is! I love stub nibs - I have many from Richard Binder, but I have to say this is the smoothest stub I have ever used. And, it is so cool to see a great stub nib on the tip of that beautiful Waterman inlaid nib!

I have 2 Carenes - the Amber Shimmer and Deluxe Blue models and now I can use the interchangeable stub in either one as the mood moves me.

Just thought I would share my new pen experience with all of you!

So ... how much was it, if you don't mind my asking?

80.00 and well worth it I must say!

Awesome. I'm sure Ghost Plane will be by to cheer at your new stub soon enough. smile.gif

I love stubs myself. I have a Lamy 2000 M that was reground into an M stub by Pendemonium and it feels suspiciously like a Sheaffer stub - which is a great thing!

I still have yet to try a Carene stub, but I look forward to the opportunity.

Best,
Summer

Thanks.

I've been looking at them
at Mr. Lewertowski's and debating
between a stub and a cursive italic.

I have a couple of Waterman pens with factory stubs, and they are all excellent. The combination of the rigid Waterman nib and the stub cut makes a great writing nib. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

If I ever get a Carene it will be with a stub nib. I didn't know the Carene nib could be swapped?! I thought (from the look of it) that they were part of the pen...

How do you remove them? Do you need a tool?

You swap out the whole nib section.

How wide is the Carene stub? I've been using a stub nib on another pen and like it (a Pilot broad nib).

A $99 blue Carene at Oscar Braun? I like that color. I don't NEED a new pen.. but I like ... crybaby.gif

Well answered, Ghost Plane. Then too broad for me. With my handwriting the nib would probably create a swath of solid ink down the line of the page. biggrin.gif

Methinks I may speak to Deb Kinney about turning my medium point into a cursive italic, with just a *slightly* finer line than it now has.

I wrote with it last night. The ink flowed beautifly and thickly. Private Reserve Midnight Blues, with the dusky hues of a darkening sky. Sometimes it would shortchange me on a's and o's, the 9's and O's, claiming it was saving ink for better letters. We argued then and I'd go back and redraw a letter or two. I need to send it to juvie camp and get it fixed, but I hate being without it. Ticks and all, it's still a cloud9.gif pen.
