I have several Sheaffer pens that were manufactured in the 1940's and '50's. My problem is that they look so similar that I am having trouble identifying them, even with the help of several good and well illustrated pen references. Is there anywhere a reference that will help me discern the difference between the several models Sheaffer produced from about 1942 through the mid to late 1950's?

Sheaffer didn't have date codes on their pens, but generally speaking, the triumph nibs were introduced in the early 40's. These could be either vacuum or lever filled. Thinline (touchdowns) were introduced in '49, and snorkles in '52. Jeff

Yes, Sheaffer did have some thick body touchdowns both with traditional nibs and triumph nibs. I have one of each on my desk.
