Since joining this network, i have had a wonderful time reading the variety of opinions and reviews of various pens and inks.
What i REALLY like are an individuals impressions.
SO i though it might be fun to feature a pen and see what all of you think. Just give your impression and/or likes and dislikes of the pen or ink.
Here is the first pen:
This is a photo of Richard's pen!!Thanks Richard!

i suppose you mean impressions based on the image? I've never used a Nettuno pen so that's all I can give.
I want to like these pens. But find myself wishing they were more streamlined. Especially the clip. The material is pretty certainly. And the nib is appealing. It looks like it's a fairly fat pen which would keep it out of my pen case in all likelihood.

Yes, image was what i meant. Just by looking at it. All of us enjoy looking at fountain pens whether in a magazine or online.
I love the color or this pen . The nib is nice as well. I prefer combination gold/silver nibs but only,of course, in appearance.

Dang, KCat stole my thoughts ....
I've never used one either so goin gon looks alone.
Nice shape but could be smoother.
I dislike the "step" in the barrel after the threads.
Nice Color.
Dislike the clip.
Bland nib.

Nice color.
Interesting nib and clip design.
Looks too big to be a comfortable writer.

I like how it looks. Nice streamlined shape and the gold furniture accents the terracotta celluloid very nicely. It makes me wish that I had a meter of that material.

I had my eyes on this pen with that exact finish, but I think it was being discontinued and only ones with black sections seemed availabe (not the reason I don't have one). All I can say is that zit iz beautiful!

It's a beauty.
Love the warm tones, wide girth, torpedo shape, no metal trim at the end of the section, aerodynamic clip and a big nib. The engraving on the barrel is a nice touch. As to the step down, i'd have to try it, but it probably wouldn't bother me.
What's the model, what kind of nib, and how does it fill?

Looks nice and chunky and the nib looks good sized in proportion to the rest of the pen. I keep wondering about these pens. It always helps to have another pen in the picture so that one can judge size, assuming one has seen one of the pens in person.

I like the shape. The celluloid is beautiful. I don't care for the large gold clip. The vent hole on the nib goes nicely with the lines of the engraving.

I'm undecided. The picture alone does not really give me an impression of 'must have' or 'evil be gone.' The Serenite or Edson or Omas 360 did have a sort of presence.
That being said, I do like the color and the pattern, but this pen would really need to be a good writer before I'd consider buying one. My Stipula Novecento Aqua would not have convinced me from a photograph, but when I tried it (I asked for suggestions in the price range of another pen that did catch my eye,) it really wrote well and the whole package makes the pen beautiful.

nit my cup of tea. i know this may sound wierd but yellow gold anywhere but the nib is a deal breaker for me not my taste.
in all fairness i have seen a pen or two with yellow gold that appealed to me but it is VERY few and far between.
as they say different strokes for different folks.
all the best

Very nice and original clip design, but the overall shape leaves me cold as a Canadian winter.

Like the pen overall, but not sure about the clip. Trying to imagine how that clip would look in my shirt pocket...

I have gone off the marbled finish for awhile, but i'm not worried, as i'm sure it's juat a temporary thing.
Just like winedoc, i'm not sure about the clip, albeit a very original design. I've also gone off to many trims, actually, so those on the barrel though purposeful, just spoil it a bit for me.
Of the two pens so far, I think I'd prefer the aurora. I generally tend to prefer silver to gold trims, but again, if there's too much going on, I tend to get put off. I must say that I am curious to try a metal section.
Thanks, Handlebar.

I really like the look of the Aurora, especially the cap and center ring. Very "Victorian" in appearance. Yet again, another pen that is way out of my price range. But,like many,i will drool for awhile.I hope to try one out someday at least. I remember a friend and i used to go in our best suits and test drive expensive cars just to see what they were like. We knew they were out of our price range but it was fun driving a Porsche or a nice BMW.Ahhh what a nice suit will do to open doors!!
But,alas, the Aurora will have to wait.

The Aroura is positively striking!

I own an Optima and it is a nice pen and well made but I do not care for the Aurora toothy nibs!!

I currently have my Aurora 1888 LE Demonstrator in the rotation. It is a lovely pen with exceptional balance. Its medium nib writes on the fine and dry side, and it provides some kind of feedback (less that tooth).
I bought it as soon as I saw it, and it was not unexpensive, but I do not regret the impulse. After some leaking and a couple of trips to São Paulo and Italy, it is now one of my favorite pens.

I consider seriously purchasing more Auroras in the future, and the one you posted is simply magnificent.

I like the color.
I dislike the "trim" rings, if they get any bigger this would be a silver pen with celluloid trim, and they are too busy and ornate.
The silver section is too much with all that silver trim.
(And NO, I don't like the Bexley Submariner Grande either.)
Since I can't see the pen body I can't comment on the overall size and shape.
From what I see I wouldn't buy it.

Since Handlebar is inviting comments on my own picture of my own pen (the Nettuno Skipper), I thought I'd provide a few.
The clip may not be to everyone's taste, but I found its deco-ish styling rather attractive. It seemed to differentiate it strongly from all those Montblanc torpedo-style clones. It may look a little weird in the pocket, but mine stays in my pen case, loaded with Visconti Brown, which leads me onto ...
the nib. I hadn't heard that Nettuno had nib "issues". Mine is a B nib and I had asked Susanna at Giardino Italiano to check it out for me, and in her email she said "I think you will like it!". It's a fantastic nib, wet, smooth, slightly springy, very broad. It has also been ground in a slightly square-cut way that makes its line quite distinctive. It starts almost immediately (after a few days left standing you may have to touch the nib to the paper to avoid a tiny skip), and flows consistently from then on.
I liked the monotone gold of the nib as an alternative to all the duotones in my (and everyone else's) collection.
It's an extremely comfortable pen with a nice broad section that feels great in the hand. I'd think most people would find the same. The stepped barrel would only be a problem to those who hold the pen unusually high on the barrel.
The material is lovely, with more iridescence in real life than my picture manages to show.
Downsides? Well, it guzzles ink because of that thirsty B nib. It's a c/c filler, though it will take the larger Waterman international cartridges. I find the cap ring a bit timid in styling, especially in comparison to that rococo clip!
Now, let's discuss moustaches ...

I didn't know that was your photo!!! Wow.Beautiful pen!!! If i had known, i would have given you a credit line!!!
As for moustaches.... I'm game!!!!That is a subject i'm well versed on.I belong to two moustache/beard clubs: The Handlebar Club of London and The Whisker club here in the States.

On the pens:
Color: my preference is for greens, blues, and black colors, I am not very fond of reds, browns, oranges, yellows. I would not get the latter colors, unless I was getting several pens of the same model and wanted to have a way to distinguish them. I have an Oriental red Waterman Expert II RB, but I also have a Prussian Green FP, France Blue RB, Black MP.
Finish: both pens have very nice finishes, I like both marbled and celluloid with inlay types of finishes.
Design: both pens have nice shapes, fairly smooth surfaces. I am not very fussy about the end's shape, as long as the general shape of the pen is smooth. Ciselé, and small indentations are ok, not large ones I would feel when holding the pen.
The first pen lacks an ink window, while the Aurora does have one. I like to know how much ink is left in the pen either by a direct window or by transparency.
On the mustach:
I have a full beard and mustach. I would not try to compete with your mustach, it is quite impressive. I like my mustach, and beard, fairly short.
