Can anyone explain why Esterbrook produced some nibs without numbers on them? Was this done shortly before they merged with Venus? I've just acquired a nib that has no number, just the words ESTERBOOK and BROAD instead. It's a sweet writer and came in a 2xxx series red/silver box.

Thanks.

The only Esterbrook nibs I've ever seen without numbers are the Venus ones.

Same here ...
The only ones I've actually written with were a Fine and a Medium .. both were very smooth. I keep the Fine in a desk pen and love it.

Yumbo,

These nibs were very late if I remember correctly. Look on Brian's site but these mimicked other nibs.

I've seen these nibs primarily on CX-100 pens. That is not to say they were not sold with other late model Esterbrooks, but the only NOS pens I've seen with these are the cx-100s.

Best regards, greg
