I was surprised when I saw that plain Noodler's Black--which I figured would be one of the most popular colors--had few reviews, so I figured that I would give an ink review a shot.

ALso my first ink review. Please excuse my non-pretty handwriting.

The color looks 'off' on my monitor; in person it's a true, deep, jet black.

Thanks, Stevopedia, covers the basics well.

I use Noodler's Black (Standard) and would say much the same about it. Except that it isn't a bulletproof ink.

Why do you apologize for your handwriting? It's neat, clear, and legible -- that is not to be sneezed at. OK, so it's not Italic or Spenserian. So what?

Good review.

Randal

By Standard I meant that it's not Heart of Darkness, nor Old Manhattan, nor Polar-- it's just Noodler's Black.

Great review.

I've encountered similar dry times with Noodler's Black, and I find it to be a touch slow for my purposes (ie: I can't finishing writing a page and immediately flip to the next without smearing). Can't win 'em all, I guess.

EDIT: I should note that in all categories besides drying time, this ink is flawless, with perhaps an eyebrow-raise for creep.

Sorry to argue the point, but Noodler's standard Black is definitely Bulletproof. It says so on the bottle, and I think you'll find enough tests of it on this site if you search. I've only tried it in water so far, along with Luxury Blue, with many other Noodler's colours, some Waterman, Sheaffer and Parker inks, and it and LB were the only ones that were absolutely rock solid.
