Full Version: A Customized Estie Desk Pen

I've been meaning to post this for a while and things seem sort of quiet on the Estie board so here goes.

We all have them. Often we have lots of them. I'm speaking of the clear tail for an Esterbrook desk pen and they can get boring. Tapers do come in other colors. Black turns up pretty often. There are solid red and transparent red. I've heard a rumor of a blue taper but never seen one. A while back I decided I needed a reason to use the taper attachment on the lathe. This is what I came up with.

Anyone else have a custom Esterbrook

Nice job Todd! I bet there would be a market for these smile.gif
Of course, lathe time would make them quite expensive....

That is pretty cool--great work.

Todd - you are amazing. That is stunning. Too bad I'm not going to make the next PPPC mtg in July or else I'd ask to see it in person. Gorgeous.
FarmBoy
Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Anyone else have a custom Estie?

Kudzu: How can we have a PPPC meeting without you?

Assuming that we could get you to make some of these for sale, what would you charge. Does it actually screw in or is it just a snug fit?
It looks awesome!

You know Todd.... I might just have to do this to the clear taper I have on my desk. I second Adam's question too, did you find it a standard thread?

You must be proud of that one tongue.gif
FarmBoy
Hi all,

The taper end is threaded to match the Esterbrook thread. I don't remember the specifics but it wasn't a common thread. For all practical purposes, it is an exact duplicate of the Esterbrook tail made from an acetate blank.

I could be coaxed to make a few more but time is limited right now check in after the first of the month.

Thanks again,

Todd
