... But have found that www.penandco.com will ship them to you at no cost! Worldwide!. Yeap, that is sure the best customer service anywhere. (You'll have to order a minimum of 3 bottles). Epictete92, the owner of Pendanco is also a member of this forum, and a great person to deal with, so I suggest you drop him a PM.

Hello from Paris,France

I am more than happy to post about my favourite ink.
personnaly i use the Violet Pensée which was the ink used by all the french pupils during the 40's and 50's in France.

If you want to have more informations about them and about some of their process, just have a look on my web site (www,penandco.com ) wich is also in english.
Beside selling their ink ( free shipping world wide for a minimal order of three inks, possibility of liter selling ); i am thinking of a limited ink serie based on fpn ideas.

Thanks again for this post idea:-)
Have a nice week end, here we will celebrate the Bastille day.
Best regards
Jean Elie

One other thing--if anybody can point me to a bottle of Herbin Roi de Soleil royal-blue dip-pen ink I will be eternally grateful. They stopped making it a year or so ago and it is impossible to find. There's not a bottle of it left at the factory and eBay turns up nothing either by active search or putting it on my wants list.

Hello Craig,

I recall seeing those ink at my local pen store. I will check next time I go.

JFT, many thanks for your offer to check out your pen store for Roi de Soleil. I'll be eager to learn the results!

Many thanks for the link to www.penandco.com. I just downloaded the J. Herbin ink chart and printed it out. Mine came out fairly accurately (for the colors I own and know).

A quick question. Are there any scented inks which are actually waterproof? Other than the MB Season's Greetings.
FredM
My first bottle of J Herbin came with a Charles de Gaulle limited edition pen that came from Penandco. It was Violette Pensee, beautiful color. I have since added Blue Nuit also very nice

I checked your website, but have not figured out how to purchae. The software in English does not put the ink I order in the shopping basket! Should I try the French version?

Also, do you give an allowance for VAT when shipping is outside the EU? (I am in the U.S.)

It would be interesting to have offers of several colors with a discount. (The way Diamine does with their monthly specials.)

I just sampled some Perle Noire and can't believe the buttery smoothness of it. No nib creep either. I would agree that it has relatively high water resistance. No, not Noodler's bulletproof, but hold up pretty well under a good soaking. I tried this ink right after Noodler's Polar Black and could not believe the difference in flow in the Sheaffer Heritage Legacy. Tried Aurora. Super dry. Made nib scratchy. It had a sticky/blobby-like factor that worried me a bit. Diamine Jet Black was a total bust and appeared so washed out that I took it out almost immediately. Can't wait to try J. Herbin's Eclat de Saphir.

I love my J. Herbin Inks. I've got Vert Olive and Perle des Encres in cartridges (though I rarely use cartridges anymore), and I've got bottles of Lierre Sauvage and Èclat de Saphir. I don't think I'll ever really use a blue that's not èclat de saphir, although I've wanted to give bleu myosotis a try as well, but it just looks too bright for me. The only problem is the bottles. There's not a whole lot of ink in the bottle for the price anyway, and then I always feel I start having problems getting it out of the bottle when it's only half empty.

I had no idea that Perle Noire was water resistant. I'll have to give it a try as my next black.

Poussière de Lune is one of my favorite inks.

I'll second this. In a wet medium nib writer, it turned out to be exactly the dark maroon ink I was looking for. In a drier Parker nib, it's a nice plum color. I'm a fan.

I've also tried the Eclat de Saphir, a great blue color that is quite juicy and Perle Noir, a black that has become my favorite. I've got three more Herbin inks to try, but I'm saving them for a bit. I've definitely become a Herbin fan.

I have never tried Herbin inks, but I've read so many good things about the Perle Noire that I think I'm going to have to buy a bottle and see how it works.

The other inks that sound interesting in this thread are the Cacao and the Black Tea.

My main ink color is blue, and, unfortunately, none of the descriptions of any of the Herbin blue inks sound like they fit my preferences for blue ink: dark royal blue similar to Waterman Florida Blue.
