Greetings friends,
I just received a new Lamy 2000 with a F nib. It is writing with a little scratch from what I can tell is both on the up and down stroke. My comparison is to a Vanishing Point, which writes smooth as glass.
What gives? Is it just me? <_<
I tried some adjustments with the finger nail, but it didn't seem to do well down to a certain level of fine tuning. Sometimes it was less scratchy than other attempts. Unfortunately, I don't have a loupe to zoom in further on the nib.
Can you offer me any suggestions, experience or resources regarding nib adjustment or specifics comparing these two pens?
Thank you kindly for your response.
Please know that I value your time.

My Lamy Studio has a little bit of a tooth as well - EF Nib on mine.
I bought a 10x Loupe and the tines looked aligned to me - doesnt' bother me much anymore.

Sorry to hear that the F nib on your Lamy 2000 is scratchy. My 2000 F nib was a bit toothy at first, but after realigning the tines, it's one of my favorite writers. In my experience, it's difficult to realign the tines of a pen without a loupe. I find a lot of nib scratchiness can be remedied with a proper nib realignment, so a $10-$15 investment in a 10x loupe easily pays for itself. Plus, you can use that loupe to start grinding nibs.

Good luck!
