Hi,

Just looking on ebay and came across this item, looks modern to me but I don't know of any that are 24ct gold (I assume he means the cap) and a platinum nib.

Anyone got any ideas, not looking to bid just intrigued.

This is the ID number 140238768348 .

Jesus Christ! Is this a Benz auction?

This is a Jotter with an S/S nib (definitely not platinum)

The gold-plated cap is quite confusing, though.

Funny I thought that as well, but wondered if they did any special editions I wasn't aware of (seems a bit unlikely, a cheap pen with expensive fittings, but who knows).

I particularly like the spelling/punctuation in the added notes, possibly an indication of how easy it is to get into university nowadays (but mustn't get personal).

Actually just looked at his other items for sale and he seems to have another of these rare pens (looks identical to me). Pity the bidders ID is hidden , but will be interested to see the feedback in a few days.

It is possible there was a GP version once upon a time. The clip looks old as well. The body is definitely Jotter, though.

And I've never heard of any platinum nibs. Platinum-plated maximum.

This is one big scam. Benz is amusing. This one is a bastard.

Somebody actualy won this pen for 82 pounds (around 160$ US).
I'd hate to see his/her face when he/she will see what this pen really is headsmack.gif

He's got another, identical, jotter up for sale. I would think he's either got some old GP caps or he's putting gilt or some such on them.
He claims the caps are 24ct gold, which I would have thought was too soft to make a cap out of.

It looks like some very old style of cap - it seems to me that the clip is plain.

It looks like a complete and utter scam. All the feedback so far is from the same person who has zero feedback. Shill bidding, so not a real purchaser. Just out to see who they can hook.

I simply think they have got a gold plating machine and are seeing what they can sell -- note the gold ipod also on offer.

Looks to me like that pen is simply a jotter and they have gold-plated (gold-washed) the cap.

Oh, and the cap isn't that old. I have one right here on my desk.

Is there a way to report something like this?

I was thinking of contacting Parker as they're the best people to deal with things like this. I reported someone else once for selling counterfeit Parkers and ebay did nothing and the guy sold a Hero 51 copy for £30, despite ebay having about 5 days to do something about it.

It isn't in eBay's interest to stop anyone selling anything since it's getting huge fees from sales. In my experience (with a terrible buyer who drove me nuts for several months), eBay is useless when there's a problem with anything.

The only way is to alert the makers of goods: they have a reputation to lose when someone buys a fake.

A Hero 51 copy is not a counterfeit pen.... if it is being sold as a Hero pen....
Hero pens are Hero pens.... unless the seller said it was a Parker there was nothing that eBay could do about it...
andyk
Oh well as he has another of these pens for sale I thought I would ask a couple of questions, didn't expect a response but I got one.

Questions were:-

Dear jj_the_seller_kid,

Hi,

A few questions about the pen.

Any idea what model it is?

How does it fill and do you know if it works?

Is the cap goldplated or solid 24ct gold, is it hallmarked?

Also the nib is it platinum plated or solid platinum, if plated do you know what it is made of gold or steel.

Thanks

Andy

Response:-

Dear andyk_17,

i can see you seem to be a keep pen collector , i appologise i wish i knew more about the model, it uses standard large barrel ink cartridges , the pen lid itself is 24ct gold plated and as far as im aware the nib is solid platinum but is small in diameter, although it could be plated. I Do appologise for not knowing the exact info you require ill have another look in to it for you, its something that was handed down from my grand mother which im selling to pay for university fees , any way i do appologise thank you for your query. Would you be intreasted in making an offer on this item ? if so get back to me if possible thank you, any other info you may need such as length and diameter please ask

Thank you very much

Justin

Don't honestly think I will bid or make an offer though.

I apologise, I thought the implication was clear. The seller concerned was, indeed, selling them as Parkers.

You would be surprised, a couple of years ago I had to complete a Diversity Training course via distance learning through our local university and I had to take a basic literacy test, when I questioned this as I thought somebody was having a joke, I was told that it wasn't unusual for applicants to have poor spelling/grammar. The level of questions surprised me as they were very basic English at a level most of us learnt by about the 3rd/4th form at secondary school, at least in the 70s when I was at school.

Right... I have seen many who has difficulty with grammar/spelling/punctuation despite having a 16 yrs education in English... (don't count me in it, English is basically my third language lticaptd.gif )

Well, you can spell 'punctuation' while that guy can't even spell words like 'interested' or 'apologise', which one uses all the time, so you're way ahead of him.
andyk
Hi,

The saga continues, apparently the buyer won't pay (has he/she read the post) and offered it to me (not sure if it's pen one or two). Hope the buyer for pen one hasn't paid, I think the buyer of it's twin overpaid at £26.

Politely declined and sent a message pointing out politely why I think this is a £10 pen at most (and that's being generous) and suggesting that if he is claiming the nib is platinum he needs to be sure of it and suggesting better pictures to help buyers decide.

Now await the next mail which will no doubt be fairly abusive.

I can spell usually, but I do find my fingers of each hand work a little faster than my mind and i don't always bother to check the rubbish I write. Result - speliing mistales - ;-)) very easy to make on a keyboard.
Moral - proof read if you don't want to get picked on.
