I've been reading the forum for a while now, and I think I'm ready to start posting. My addiction started about a year ago, it's been great using this forum as a place to learn. I'm primarily interested in pens as writers, rather than straight collecting, but also interested in finding pens "in the wild" and restoring them.

Am primarily interested in vintage pens, especially Sheaffer Triumph nibs. I'm not sure why, but I like them a lot.

Hi there and welcome to the club!
Since you know what Sheaffer is (I didn't know when I started here) then there are no hindrances and all that.
As to Sheaffer Triumph nibs, your're already in the upper league here. I bought one (in a Crest) two weeks ago and I must say, it is the very best nib I've ever had in my hand (the total being only about 1-2 dozen or so).
All best wishs here!!!

Welcome! I agree, Triumphs are wonderful. I just started using mine I got a while ago from Pen Haven and I love it. A nice "vintage" feel and very different from the modern Stipula I'm also using (see below).

You're right - there is a different feel than other nibs, especially modern ones. It isn't actually as smooth as some and it is completely stiff, of course, but I still like them - both how they look and how they write.

I have four working ones, two vacu-fil desk pens, a touchdown desk pen (the desk pens plus holders and an esterbrook desk pen were bought in a bag at a flea market for $25), a Sentinel Deluxe Touchdown, and my favorite, a Sentinel Deluxe Tuckaway. I have another touchdown waiting for a sac and O ring.

Now I want a snorkel and a black touchdown (I like to keep matching pens and ink colors). Then I can quit (yeah right!).

Welcome to FPN. Why do I now think I need to look at Sheaffers? The nibs sound very interesting. rolleyes.gif

This place is horribly addictive - be warned! Welcome, I hope you enjoy it half as much as I am after only a couple of days here.

Finding vintage pens in the wild and restoring them is one of my favorite things to do! And Triumph nibs, undoubtedly, are some of the best ever made, period.

Welcome to active duty. I look forward to hearing from you on the Sheaffer forum. smile.gif

Welcome to FPN! And triumph nibs are awesome. No wonder your attraction. But don't discount the other nibs. thumbup.gif
