Hi,

I received this morning information from our Technical Manager confirming the size measurements for the Conway Stewart nibs.

  • Extra Fine 0.5mm
  • Fine 0.7mm
  • Medium 0.9mm
  • Broad 1.2mm
  • Extra Broad 1.4mm
  • An italic nib is about 0.1mm wider than its standard counterpart.

Kind regards,

Mary Burke

Thanks Marry!

This is handy to have.

Great idea and I have followed your suggestion.

Many thanks,

This is great information and a wonderful suggestion to pin it.

It really is helpful to know the widths of the nibs. Now we'll all be able to compare them with other manufacturer's or to have a better personal feel for
the exact difference between a fine and medium nib.

Thank you, Mary.

Peace,

Which size Conway Stewart nib is equivalent to a Medium Ballpoint?

Thanks.

Hi Pierre,

I would say that Fine grade is the closest, however it will depend on the paper you are using as well as the choice of ink.

A tough one to answer, as both types of pen are very different. A lot depends on how strongly you press on paper and at which angle you hold your fountain pen. Speaking for myself, I don't find CS nibs unduly broad, but that may be because of my writing style.
