If the heading caught your attention, my hope is you are a pen enthusiast (duh) and you live somewhere in or near the areas I listed.
I live in Hastings on Hudson, NY, about 20 north of NYC. I have been trying to get in touch with folks from the Long Island Pen club but no one has responded as yet. And as I'm a proactive sort of person, I thought I'd toss out the idea of starting some kind of group or club closer to me.
I'll tell you what I'm looking for:
Help with repair tips and techniques (I've been emailing all sorts of experts with questions, they shall remain nameless, and for the most part they've not been very forthcoming with helpful advice)
- Exchange of ideas on where to get pens from various sources, estate sales, etc.
- Learning more about how to value the pens in my collection
- Looking at pens from other collectors
- Learn more about the history of the companies that made the pens
- Good food and drink and general chit chat?
- Maybe an impromtu poker game?
