Modern desk pen design with a feather motif. unfortunately they are BP pens. http://penhome.co.uk/fjader.htm

Well that sucks. I wonder if it's possible to convert them to FPs or dip-pens?...

These are cool, I was also bummed that they did not have FPS... Might be a good purchase to put at your desk for others to use if you dont let others use your FPs...

So - are you all saying these pens are in good taste, or what? Does anyone remember Jorg Hysek's pens from the 1990's? He designed RB's, BP's and FP's - but, the FP's were designed to take - short international cartridges. thumbup.gif Oh, yes. What does that (design flaw?) say about the brilliance of these high dollar designers. sick.gif - Like, is "Nyuk, nyuk!" appropriate, or what?
richardandtracy
Interesting, but I don't think it looks very comfortable to use.

Richard.

Could the size of the pen only allowed the short cartridges and to change the size of the pen body would make it unbalanced and ungainley? Why would you expect that everything be designed for FP users? there are more Ballpoint or rollerball users than fountain pen users in the world so the man designed for the majority of people- design flaw to one is a benefit to another. And possibly if someone purchased one of these moreexpensive pens would it not also give the opportunity for them to continue producing FPs?

I would think that a black tube with some gold rings and a nib stuck on the end is a horrid design so anything that is more ergohnomic would be an improvement.

I agree with this to some extent. What do you think are some examples of good FP design?
Ernst Bitterman
What's that old saying... form {something} function... hmm1.gif

eureka.gif Oh, right, "Form defeats function!" That's it!
davidross
Right, something like "who cares about function as long as it's pretty." We have a term for that - emotional design.

I have written with pens that have a triangular section before. They are quite comfortable. As is a Parker 75.

Easy FrankB, I still write with my Jorg Hysek FP. It's not bad, but the barrel is short. I does take two international carts back to back. The Hysek pen that I am reminded of in looking at the pen above is the Hysek dip pen that had the really long barrel - long nib too. It was really heavy and felt more like a rigging spike in my hand.
