Anybody think the present bid is too high? The pen comes without all boxes and papers.

Hi John. I guess one way to look at it is, with 18 bids, "too high" becomes irrelevant; it's what the market for this pen will bear. Is it too high for me? Yes. So my personal answer to your question is yes. But the minima version of this pen is also very expensive at around $395 new (I'm guessing it has been found for less), so I'm not surprised to see high dollar bids on the hard to find, full-sized version of the Sole.

These pens are very rare and very popular. They sell for $600 and up. They're one of the few modern pens that has been consistently gaining in value (as measured by resale price), mainly due to their scarcity compared to the Mare and the Primavera.

As Charlie said, this pen model is popular, and we might be seeing just how popular. I assure you I did not pay anywhere near that price for mine. But, time has gone by.

I also didn't pay anywhere near the present bid($641.71)for mine. In fact, mine was an amount less than 1/3 of the present price.

Times have changed. This pen is now HOT. That's why Aurora issued a miniature version of it a year or so ago.

At face value, it is exactly the same pen as the Mare and the Primavera. The only difference was the quantity that was produced. Because of the small quantity, the Sole sells for as much as $200-300 more than a Mare or Primavera. The laws of supply and demand at work.

I've seen them go for over $1000. I'd like one eventually, but I'm not bidding on this one.

The one I never see is the full-sized Fuoco.

I like the plastic used on these and had a few other Auroras of the same size, so went looking for a full size Sole. Took me quite some time as they seldom seem to get listed, and I finally found one (for way less than half what that one went for). Then a Sole BP came up and I couldn't resist grabbing that (just over $100, probably a pretty good deal). I'm hoping that no RBs come up or that I can resist the urge to be a completist.

But yes, these have been holding value well. They made 7500, which isn't all that rare, yet they seem to be a bit scarce - probably people tend to keep them once they have them.

I also have the Primavera, a red and a sterling Optima - nice writers.
