I've never turned casein, but I'm about to.
I realize that casein shouldn't get soaked in water, but what about a quick wet-sanding?
Obviously, dry-sanding is not ideal.
Would a quick sanding really effect the material? Or is there something else that I can wet-sand with that will not effect it?

No problem at all, Brian. Go ahead and wet sand it. I even washed the casein pens I made under running water. You just don't want to soak it for long.
Don't be surprised if it smells like old cottage cheese.
