Not sure if I should ask here, or in the photography section, but anyway.
I've got a scanner I don't really know how to use and I'm trying to post a few scans here. I've got an account at Photobucket that is automatically resizing my big files into decent file sizes, but I don't understand how to predict how big the image will look once posted. I've played with the number of pixels and image dimensions a bit in my photo editor, but the results are just confusing me.
I'm scanning at 600dpi to get good quality images. Should I be? Once I've got that massive file, what should I do to it to make it posting friendly (ie big enough dimension wise to read easily, decent resolution, file size small enough to fit the Photobucket 512kg limit, and image size just small emough you don't have to scroll sideways)
TIA
Ryan the technologically inept.
