Hello everyone!
My wife and I are self-styled stationery fanatics, so my eventual discovery of the FPN forums was inevitable. I've been using FPs for only a few months (a Lamy Safari Vista with Fine nib, purchased at a local Paradise Pen store). I'm now looking into the reviews written by people who've purchased inexpensive Chinese pens from manufacturers like Jinhao and Hero.
Oh, for reference sake, my wife and I, along with our 4 young children, live in suburban Detroit (hence the Hockeytown reference in the title). Most of my writing is done at work, though I also write for a class I teach at my parish.

I worked for four years in Detroit (and lived in Ann Arbor -- husband was a grad student), before I moved to
Tel Aviv.
After you get the bug and decide to upgrade to a more expensive FP (trust me, this site will make you into an addict!), look up Pam Braun at Oscar Braun Pens -- she's in Oak Park and has great prices. Also, James from Pear Tree Pens (Ann Arbor) is a regular contributor here. No affiliation with either; just sharing the Michigan love.

Where in the metro-Detroit area are you located at? I live and work in Ann Arbor.
Also, there is a club called the Michigan Pen Collectors- they have monthly meetings,and every year, they organise a pen show in Rochester. Usually during the first weekend of September.
