Greetings, folks--

I just scarfed a lever fill Sheaffer Crest Deluxe, triumph nib, ca. 1948. Want to resac it, but don't know if the section is slip fit or screw on. And where is the section seam? Below the threads? Above the threads? Would help to know where to apply heat, and whether to twist or rock and pull. java script:emoticon(';)')

Thanks bunches--

Hi Debbie,

I have only one vintage Crest in my collection, but mine's a vacuum-filler, not a lever-filler. The section on mine is threaded and twists off below the metal section ring. When in doubt about how a section is removed, I genrally try unscrewing a section.

Jim "Penhero" M., the Sheaffer moderator on FPN, must have handled lots of vintage Crests so perhaps he will chip in with a reply. smile.gif He has a wonderful article on them on his website:
The Early Sheaffer Crest 1937-1950
