Awhile ago, I bought a Hero 100 Stainless from isellpens.com and it never seemed to work right ever since. I use the same ink with all my pens (that is, the Waterman brand inks) but only the 100 will lay down an extremely wet line that takes awhile to dry up. It also has some rough start-ups and isn't as smooth as I'd hope it to be (my $5 Hero 329 wrights way better than the $30 pen). I've tried changing inks and shaking the pen dry of ink but nothing's changed.

I think I need to clean it somehow but I don't know how to. So, any suggestion or recommended tutorials would be a great help. I will be doing some research on it, as well.

Thank You.

I do not have the type of pen that you have but sometimes a pen, even though you've been using it forever with the same ink, needs a good flushing. I would try that and if all else fails call the guy back at isellpens. I've bought a couple of pens from him and I am certain he will work out something with you.

How would you flush out a pump-style converter?

psfred
Fill with water, or better water with some household ammonia in it, pump out as much as you can, then shake the pen with a flip of the wrist to get the water out of the collector under the hood. Repeat a couple times.

Hero pens suffer from poor quality control, so it's possible the nib is not good, or has been installed poorly. The 100 has a keyed nib and collector like a Parker 61, so it cannot be installed out of alignment, but that won't prevent at badly made nib or collector.

A flush may indeed help. However, if it writes rather wet AND has starting problems, I would suspect poor nib tip alignment.

If the flush doesn't help, I'd recommend contacting Todd at isellpens. Sounds to me like a bad feed or bad fitting of the nib on the feed or a bad nib - could be any one of those, a combination of those, or something else entirely. Hope you get it worked out and let us know how it goes.
