I think I've entered a new world to s(pen)d money and obsess over. I'm new to this world of fountain pens, I think I've come to the right place. I just purchaced my first pen. A Lamy Al-star, med nib , and no converter at this point. So far I love it. I want to get a second founatin. I open to suggestions. I think I need something functional and cheap. Under a c-note would be nice. Looking foward to hearing your responses.

Welcome to the machine, I mean the obsession, I meant the board. All sorts of good info here. Enjoy.

Hi and welcome to the club of addicts.
How about a (reasonably inexpensive, but at the same time very good) Pelikan M200?

Welcome to the club. If you're anything like me (and, I suspect, most folks here) you've only just begun to purchase fountain pens. The obsession will start slowly, with only an occasional purchase, for some reasonable amount of money, as you're currently planning. The next stage will be, "I've got to have that", and you'll find yourself buying several pens a month, maybe even in a day if you get involved with eBay, etc. Soon you'll have lots of pens and the question will become how many to carry at any one time, I try to stick to five, but have gone as high as eight. rolleyes.gif This is an addictive hobby, but you should avoid any twelve-step programs designed to get you out of it. wink.gif After all, we need someone to sell our pens to.

Is a general sin of the forum to encourage the purchase of many (too many, is there such a thing?) pens. Having just a few, quality and budget ones is good, believe me. Putting them to use is much better than stocking them, IMHO. Your is a great pen with varied nib possibilities and very good performance/design ratio.
