I received my new Lalex1938 Forme in Blue today
The colour is awesome - really, really amazing
BUT and its a big but for me
the chrome around the screw thread is tarnished in places it is only small and you have to look to see it .... but this is my first grown up pen and I wanted it to be perfect!
I saw it doesnt notice but as soon as I took off the lid I thought - oh, what's that? so actually it does notice
should I send it back or am I just being silly?

That's for you to decide. Perfection does not exist and if it does, only for a split second.

well yes - but then I think to myself if thats what its like now new what on earth will it be like in a few months after some heavy use?
It looks like a manufacturing flaw - it wasnt advertised as 'factory seconds'.....

The chrome issue would have happened anyway, but I think the size issue is the more important one.

Call the shop and tell the seller you want a perfect one.

I think it depends on how bad the tarnishing is, not being able to see it I cannot really tell you how I would react. Using my imagination, if I bought something that was brand new, cost a bit, and had instantly noticeable tarnish then I would feel annoyed to say the least. If I thought that the damage to the finish is enough that it reduces the lifespan of the rest of the finish, and that for me it seriously detracted from the aesthetics of the pen in a way that a new pen should not, then I think that I may move to replace it.
At the end of the day it is up to you, I don't consider what you have said to be 'petty'.

I would definitely send it back.... it detracts from your enjoyment of your new pen. You've also spent a lot of money on it, so deserve a product in mint condition.

hi, if you are really bothered by the aesthetics, I would suggest you contact the seller to ask for a return and a refund. Sometimes, the seller might have overlooked the issue.
To me, there is no point in owning the pen that you cannot get over on some aspects.

You didn't pay for a damaged pen.
Send it back.

Yep I have made up my mind...... I will ring them tomorrow and ask for a replacement. If the next one is the same I will ask for a refund.
Decision made - thanks guys

I'd watch out if that happens with other things as well

It started off like that with me and then it became, eventually, an obsession where every time i buy anything the smallest blemish or imperfection would get me looking at it and thinking about it all day long feeling disappointed..

i hope you have complete control of yourself because it played with my head for a while lol..
I cant believe I just admitted that in public lol

Pravda means 'truth' doesn't it? If that's not your real name, maybe a Catholic priest on the forum can absolve you.

I did not see the pen, but if the speck of tarnish was really small and cleaned off quickly, why bother to send it back and just make a pain in the *** for everyone?
Why not just wipe it off and go on with it?
I think we are talking a psychological issue here if there is a serious problem with a tiny blemish that can be wiped off.
As I said, I did not see the pen, but I would not call a speck of tarnish damage to a pen and it is not, IMO, worth a bunch of mailing and remailing.
Hey, you asked. J

if it wiped off it wouldnt be a problem and I wouldnt have anything to send back but a perfect pen which would just be silly
dust and grime and a little tarnish even on new pens happens but this is actually where the coating is not perfect and therefore it wont wipe off.
maybe i have a typo up there in a previous thread somewhere that makes it seem like it cleaned off - but it didnt still there
the shop are happy to replace so no worries
