Every now and again I come across a little gem.
I bought this yesterday.It's a 39 set with a 33 pencil.
The seller described it as unused since he had it bought for his 21st.
This is a sentence I treated with caution.
However he wasn't kidding.
Apart from any stickers which,if present, were probably removed by his parents
it is as close to mint as i'd expect from a pen from the fifties.
It has a lovely medium 58 Duro nib with a little flex.
The only fault is a bit of a botch job on the pencil barrel imprint.

Here is a quick pick.

Hi,

Officially jealous, why don't I find things like this, great looking colour and even if it needs a new ink sac hardly an issue.

Congratulations, enjoy the pen

What a beautiful set!

Color me blue with envy.

Rarely does one come across such a fine example of a vintage Conway Stewart set. If you have any of the modern "58" fountain pens, I think that you'll find this vintage pen writes better and gives you more line variation. The nib on that should be butter smooth. And the pen should be very well balanced. Even the pencils in those sets are nice to use.

Congratulations on a once in a life time find.

Peace,

Congratulations, this is a very nice set indeed, a great find.

I had a 'spares' 55 in this blue marble, it looked nothing like as vibrant and alive as yours!

Will you use it at all?

Well sorry to offend the true CS officianado
but seeing as I focus my collecting on Parker
I will be offering it for sale shortly.
I just need to get some better pics and highlight
the botched barrel marking on the pencil.

If, however, my focus was on CS then I would
have to say that I wouldn't use it.

There you go,i've offended the anti collector brigade now thumbup.gif
