Hi!
I'm probably going to give a FP to a person as a graduation gift.
Is there anyone who has any recommendations on what to buy?
The person who will get the FP is, as far as I know, not used to use FPs.

The price should be around USD 125-130.

I just turned a friend into a fountain pen addict (hee!) (that's right! I'm a pen pusher, and I'm proud!). She just bought a Pelikan M215 (EF) (the "harlequin") from isellpens (I have the same pen with rings from FPH), which arrived today, and she is ecstatic! She inked it with PR Tanzanite.

I love my own Pelikan M215 (she tried a dozen of my pens before deciding).

125$ is a nice budget ! You might want to have a look in the FAQ, there are a lot of subjects which deals with different pens for different prices :

Yes, and if it's a woman (or an open-minded man), get the white tortoise. It's elegant and a great writer, though I think I've seen a thread on here where a few men who said the colors were too feminine (they were the minority, but they're there).

I forgot to ask more relevant questions before giving advice. happyberet.gif

Just order a Pelikan M200 from Richard Binder with an Italifine nib.

The recipient will be hooked on fountain pens with a vew strokes.

The Italifine nibs are a cursive italic on one side and a very fine nib on the other. Different moods for different strokes.

I keep mine inked with PR Black Magic Blue.
Ghost Plane
Waterman Carene or Visconti Van Gogh. Excellent classics and real joys to use.

With a budget of $125, and for a non-FP person, I'd maybe go with an M200 in blue or green marble, along with a matching rollerball K200 (I believe the Kseries is for the rollerball). Nab from Richard Binder, maybe, and have the FP nib "wanded," and still have enough for a bottle of nice ink.

Otherwise, the M200 alone is still a wonderful gift and you will have leftover budget after getting the pen and a bottle of ink. Heck, get 3 bottles of ink - black, blue, and a favorite color.

From my experience.

With a non fountain pen person I always side towards rollerballs. If trying to convert someone to fp, I would use a non special occasion gift of a reliable user like a Pelikano or Safari. For special occasions I like to give something I know will be used and 99 44/100% will use a roller ball. YMMV

Thanks everyone!
I'm still not sure what to buy.
It will be a fountain pen and I think I'll go for a converter and a bottle of ink also.
I know the guy quite well so I think it's safe to get him a FP.

See you on the FPN later on!
