Deirdre, do you think I'd be able to swap out my F nib for an XF? Or do I have to send my gorgeous new pen to Visconti? (I love my gorgeous new pen.)
Hmmm, that fine nib looks like just the kind of fine I like, slightly on the thicker and juicier side of true fine. I am getting all conflicted about the nib choice for my first Visconti, an Opera Club. I poked my fingers with many Opera Clubs with fine nibs at the L.A. pen show and they felt rather sharp. The mediums felt much smoother. So it is back to the eternal nib dilemma for me: get a fine and risk getting a scratchy feeling dry nib, or get a medium that is a gusher writing like a broad

Hmmmm
Of course, the solution to this dilemma that almost always works is to get a medium and use it only on nice paper

It should be a nice little drive to Carmel for you folks. I do miss the Bay Area sometimes. Be hard negotiators with Ken and Bittner. At the L.A. show, Bittner quoted me MSRP for an Opera Club, but when I gave them a polite look, they quickly quoted me a "show special" that was still too high. But the Visconti distributor had fairly decent prices, especially on the Aida. But Pam was still better on a number of pens (Van Goh, Opera CLub) But I didn't negotiate at all with the distributor and it seems like he might be willing to bargain a little. Good luck and have fun.
