That adds character to your notes; mines are full of cigarette burns, coffee, yerba mate (mostly), absinthe...
However doing one thing at a time also helps.

In the same boat. Chain smoke Marlboros, and some PF 1901 if I'm in a literary mood.
Speaking of which, I need to kick this FPN addiction and get some writing done. I've fallen so far behind it's a laughable.

Water, water, water, and more water.
I'm cheap and underage, so I don't drink alcoholic beverages or carbonated drinks either.

Good red wine or a gin martini
Unless it's the morning, then coffee. Strong coffee from a Bunn Pour-o-matic restaurant grade coffee maker

Lately, I've found myself enjoying french press coffee more and more at home. The flavor is excellent, brewing is simple and clean-up is a breeze.

Depends on the time of day. Around 11 am, I have cup of very strong coffee to keep me going until I eat lunch.
In the evening, a bottle of beer - I change all the time to try different things, though I don't like the really hoppy ales. Hefeweizen is good!
But I'm thinking of starting this essay and I think a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, NZ will do - I have it on the fridge, ready to drink.

Have a mentioned that I like tea? Strong tea usually, a good pot of Assam is my favorite but I also like Tie Guan Yin Chinese Oolong is good if I have had too much assam during the day (7-8 cups).
This video accurately captures my feelings for tea:

Non-fiction: No refreshments of any sort while writing; emerge only when organ damage is likely or more reference materials needed.
Fiction: Trappist ale, single malt Scotch, or dark rum, as available and in order of preference.
Poetry: A half-pint of absinth.
I don't write much poetry.

I will usually drink coffee during the day. If it is really hot, I may drink Coke instead, but not before noon. In the evening, I will drink IPA or bourbon occasionally.

expresso, double allongé...
Most of the time.
Water...
Otherwise, although more rarely, a single malt whisky (for now, no preferences, still going through the distilleries, from the Oarkneys going throuh the Spey right down to Oban and Skye, one by one, slowly, as stocked at a nearby Liquor Control Board of Ontario store).

I write in the morning and that means fresh ground starbucks (home brewed) with a little Vanilla creamer. All day, I drink room temperature water. Tap where I live is very good. In the evening, especially if I'm outside reading or websurfing, I'll be having an Old Fashion. Bourbon, water, bitters, a little sweetener and a bunch of ice. Put in an orange twist and and grin from my girl and I'm a happy camper.

Thanks! I prefer drinks that have good flavour. I cannot stand watery beer or sweet, fruity concoctions. I like my bourbon neat and my coffee black with no sugar. I cannot stand flavoured coffee either.
