I just recently received a Waterman's ink-vue and have this afternoon dismantled it according to instructions from the new repair book. I still haven't managed to unscrew the sac holder from the middle section, i will have to come up with an appropriate tool for that. I am having difficulty understanding the hinged lever and how it works, why hinged?? embarrassed_smile.gif Also the middle section is a different pattern than the lever section and cap, is this usual??

Hi Mark,
I'm re-sacing one of these as well at the moment, need to get a sac ???? I take it the lever is hinged as the distance it can move is restricted and the hinge maximises this. Short lever, hinged so it can push right to the other side of the barrel. Give me a shout if you get a source for sacs easily obtainable. I made a tool for removing the sac holder ring, btw, the pen took some cleaning in the u/s after and during taking apart.
All teh best,
Eric

Cheers Eric, I wasn't aware i would need a special sac, mind you haven't reached that point yet. Still have to release the jobby that holds the sac embarrassed_smile.gif

The special ink-vue sac is narrow so that the material doen't need to be compressed to pass through the middle of the retaining ring. I think that the compressed "extra" material of a standard sac would completely stop the flow of ink from the "bulb" to the pen.
This is what the sac looks like:

There are two sizes, one for a full-size ink-vue, and a smaller one for Lady Patricias with the same filling system.
I get mine from the Pen Sac Co. (www.pensacs.com).

The only difference I see between the pattern in the middle is the transparency where the black is on the ends/cap

Best regards, greg

Thanks Greg, very informative will have to get a sac, seems this one i have must have a mismatch replacement mid section, ah well fun to play with.

There were some with a more transparent mid section which had a starburst effect on them. It may be a kosher pen. You might want to take a look at the images on Pentrace from this past Sunday as there were some shown in there.

Cheers,
