I just got a nice, but unrestored, carmine stripe Tuckaway FP/MP set from Ernesto.
Given the headaches of fixing vac-fils, is it worth it to try an ED conversion? Anyone on the board try it before on a Tucky?

Hi Randy,
Rebuild these nice pens to ED's would be frustrating for me
I equipped 15 vac-fills with my new "fountainbel" plunger-rod cartridge with excellent results, six of them are tuck-away's.
You can read all about this new approch in this forum & in the sheaffer forum.

I've never quite understood the urge to convert these pens to ED.
The single major obstacle to their (proper) repair is opening them up. And you'll have to do that anyway to use them as an ED, plus clean the original heat-softening sealant off the threads (which really aren't the right cut to be optimal for an ED).
If you ask me, restoring them properly is easier.
