How do these 4 pens compare in size? I prefer light pens and smooth nibs. Thanks!

Platinum ribbed - plastic body, quite light. uncapped body - 125 mm long, posted- 157mm long, capped - 142 mm long about 12 mm wide. Snap cap. 3776 14k nib.

Platinum 3776 - plastic body, quite light, and small. uncapped body - 116mm long, posted - 149 mm long, capped136 mm long, about 12 mm wide, screw cap, 3776 14k nib, identical to ribbed.

Sailor 1911m is about the same size as the 3776, maybe a little smaller. I've got a Profit, and I think its the same as the 1911M... capped - 134 mm long, uncapped - 117mm long, posted - 147 mm long, screw cap, more tapered body, 12mm at widest. Pofit has 21k nib, I think 1911M has 14kt nib.

The Sapporo I don't have to measure, or even conjecture, but I do believe that its dimensions are somewhere here in FPN, if you search. Was it Jim Sanders from Pear Tree Pens that spelled it all out?

You could always just buy them all, one after the other, until you find the one that you like, and then sell the rest on the marketplace. Come to think of it, the marketplace is a great place to pick one up at a good price, so you can experiment, and not take the retail beating.

PS: I must say that of the three pens that I have owned that you're mentioning, I do prefer the Sailor nibs, they're just super smooth, while the Plats have just a faint hint of drag or tooth. It really depends on what nib width you're planning on using, which ink, too. So, what ink? Fine, broad, or medium nib? If you're thinking music or zoom, that may limit your choices.

I have a ProGear with a M nib, and I've used some Diamine ink in it. The line is thinner and "drier" than with Sailor ink. With Sailor ink, the line is a little bit broader than my Safari F (Lamy ink). Hope this help smile.gif

BTW: which came first the ribbed or the regular 3776?
