Greetings one and all!

I recently acquired numerous boxes of dipless pen point replacements. I was wondering if they are made to replace the nibs from 'renew points'. If so, how would you go about removing a nib from the renew point's feed?

Many thanks for any help.

Penariffic,

Take a look at this old post. The dipless nibs had a special feed making the points removable. If you happen into one, be careful with the lever, they tend to break.

Enjoy,

I have some dip-less points that came with a feed. They simply lay into a shallow notch on the feed, and you screw them into the holder. They are not made to replace renew points. Renew points are integrated into the feed. It may be possible to remove a renew point from the feed without destroying the retaining collar, but I doubt it.

Todd,

Thanks for the link that really does help me out. Basically, I can't use any of my Dipless Pen points sad.gif All I have are the regular fountain pens and renew points. I suppose it could be used in a Dip Pen holder...but would rather defeat the purpose.

I wanted to try out the Broad stub headsmack.gif Oh well. Here is what I have:

#5461 Rigid Medium (full box of 12)
#5550 Firm Extra-Fine (Full box 12 still sealed)
#5668 Firm Medium (Full box 12 still sealed)
#5284 Broad Stub (Full Box of 12)
#5554 Firm Fine (Full box of 12)

I guess I could sell them to those who have a dipless pen...or keep them until i get one. hmm1.gif Do you know anyone who would be interested?

Ray,

Thanks for the comment. I had an older, corroded renew point and found that the point cannot be removed; at least not easily. Though it seems it would be cool if you could smile.gif

I have enjoyed using regular fp in dipless bases (full size j's won't fit). Dipless pens and sets show up on ebay on a regular basis for no more cost (some times) than an Estie pen. Although I'm new to fountain pen collecting, from what I have seen, you own a small fortune in the 5xxxx series nibs. You are likely to find lots of folks out there who will be glad to buy a nib.

I would like a dipless pen one day for my Estie collection. However, the fountain pen area of Esterbrook has been almost completely discovered. So I am more than happy to sell off or trade away my 5XXX boxes.
