I recently purchased a lot of pens from a 65 year old woman who was selling her collection of fountain pens, most of which had been gifts from her family. I got excited when I saw a pink purse pen but after receiving it I discovered that it has some gouges around the lever end and a personal imprint on the barrel. Assuming that I resac this pen, polish it up and put it's 1551 nib back on what is it's approx value in the classifieds or on ebay?

Assuming you can get most of the ink out of the threads,

If there are no lip cracks, around $30-45
If there are lip cracks, $20-30

For me assuming no lip cracks and that the ink staining is removeable and allowing for the personal engraving $30-35.

Somehow this question reminds me of a very blue joke involving a naive young pastor and a nun with a past. The punchline?

"$15 -Same as in town!"

And you guys made it even better!

The gouges are the killer (for me anyway). The imprint is well done and though a "clean" barrel would be better a serious collector of Esterbrook would buy this. I will go with a $30-$40 range.
