Full Version: Bookmarking a thread?

I've come across a number of topics and threads (esp. review and repair) that I want to bookmark for quick access later.

Is this an option buried somewhere in my member controls? If not I would love to see it added to the list of topic options -- to not only be able to subscribe or mark a topic as read, but to bookmark it for future reference as well.

I'm a member of another board that has this feature and I find it invaluable. Tends to eliminate those frustrating moments when you just know you found some great info six months ago but can't find it again when you want it.

Thanks!

In Firefox I right click on the post number and select "Bookmark this link"
...Post No..follow bar across from your name..it's on the right hand side beside a tick box.

In IE the same gives you the "Add to favourites" option.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, Ruaidhri. I've already bookmarked a few topics in my browser that way.

However I was hoping to bookmark them through my FPN account, so I could access them easily whether I was at my own computer or not (or, more to the point, after I do an OS reinstall or if my computer dies). Too bad that doesn't seem to be possible.

In the meantime I'll make backup copies of my bookmarks and use the Google Bookmarks service (which I aught to be doing anyway). thumbup.gif

merzig,

Another option you have is to download the thread you're interested in by clicking on the Options button on the upper right. This way you could create a library if you wanted to without having to be online. I use the "Download as MS Word" option myself.

Foxmarks. My bookmarks follow me to any computer, and it's totally transparent. The browser's normal bookmarks are synchronized with a central server.

In any case, your normal backups should include your bookmarks, to restore after your OS dies.

On each thread, you can go to Options - Track this Topic. It appears you know this.

But then you can go to My Controls. This will open your Control Panel. Once you do that, on the left there is a Subscriptions menu. Under that you have View Topics and View Forums.

I think that View Topics is what you are looking for.
