I have now acquired a nice looking Wahl Eversharp Gold Seal and seeking answers to some questions.
The nib is imprinted 'FLEXIBLE' with a 'B' on the back of the feeder. When writing I find the flexibility to be quite stiff to get it out to broad in comparison to my Swan with a No.2 nib - is this firmness normal of the Gold Seal nib?
So far I have only polished the pen with a jeweller's cloth - is their any recommended method for polishing and maintaining the Rosewood hard rubber?
It is a good looking pen and a good feel to write with so intend to keep it in my collection and use for letter writing etc but it needs a new sac and the nib is scratchy - should I be sending the pen to a Wahl 'expert' for restoration?
Thanks for reading

nice pen

Military clip Rosewood Rubber Gold Seal Personal Point. A short but squat pen and not considered a "small" pen.

Looks to have nice shine already.

I've found some Wahl nibs are not as flexible as others, even for those marked as such. Happens. Some semi-flex (Signature) nibs are quite flexy too.

I'll second that. Some of those "flexible" Wahl/Eversharp nibs aren't really that flexible. You have to write with them to know for sure.
TickTock
The new deskset I posted about a few threads down has a Gold Seal nib, marked flexible, with an 'M' imprinted on the bottom of the feed. I'd never call it a wet noodle, it's more like a semi-flex. If I write with normal light pressure, it produces a very even medium line, but some firm pressure and it widens nicely to a good 2mm. It's amazing the feed can cope with such drastic changes in ink usage.

It still occasionally blobs on me, though, grr.

The 3 basic feeds (Fine ,Medium, and Broad) have very different ink channels in increasing widths from F to B. If you were working with a fine feed, you would see the flex nib go dry under heavy line drawing. Conversely, feed with a too wide channel for the nib involved, will tend to write to very wet and under under stress can blob easily.

Syd - This pen needs a new bladder, smoothing of the nib and also the tines have slight scissor appearance. What I am drawing from your feedback is that these repairs are best carried out by a Wahl 'expert' Restorer who would know the difference of the relative channels at a glance that otherwise might be missed with someone else.
