The Urushi fever goes on...

Latest aditions include two big red Mikados, one finished in Roiro Migaki and the second one in Kawari-nuri > Nashiji-nuri.
Both signed by Kogaku... This man has very good taste and hands... enough to empty any good purse! lticaptd.gif

My wife who does not like pens really like the Nashiji-nuri. Her comment was "what a declicious red!" No joke.

Nice photos as usual.

The Najishi Nuri is wonderful!

Roiro Migaki -- that's a fine red. I like it. I like it A LOT.

The NASHIJI NURI makes it to the very top of my Danitrio wishlist. Oh my, that is very nice.

I definitely like it, but I tend not to like the shapes of Danitrio pens. I very much like their cherry bark pens, and even though I like both of the above, I can't see putting either of them on my wish list.

Yowzers.

I love the shape of these pens. I might need one to keep my Nakayas company. Are the clips available in white instead of gold?

That has always kept me from Dani.

I had to smile at that statement. Calling a Mikado "big" is delightfully redundant. thumbup.gif

These pens are both lovely. I can admire and appreciate the Nashiji-nuri, but if I put my own money down I would want the Roiro Migaki. The Roiro Migaki is my personal definition of "traditional" and that pen's colors captivate my imagination. The primitive cave wall decorator in me just starts crying, "Me want; me want!"

Kevin, BEWARE... my wife didn't like FP's before. Then, she started liking a marble red Duofold int. that I gave her years ago as a birthday present... the actual story is quite different! ... you know... roflmho.gif

Lisa. Both reds are quite different. Roiro migaki is not just a plain red, it has some sort of life by itself. From your beautiful Sheaffer snorkel nib picture, the one with the red ink drops, I knew you would like those pictures! One thing I have to learn, and that is a steep curve, is to achieve good simple and direct compositions as you do. happyberet.gif I envy you in this way!!

About Mikado. When I first held one of those in my hand it behaved some sort of SuperOverSized... but almost instantly , when in use the sensation was quite different. It is light, very light and sits very well in the hand... and this nib... it is great, soft, flexible and very responsive. The mean Dani nib is like the very best Omas that I've tried (and I've tried many of them).

Actually I use to change between Mikado size and Takumi size in my daily use (this week there are two Mikado in my pen pouch (not the Nashiji nuri, this one deserver its own pen pouch!) Other thing, when using Mikados the ink capacity of about 4.5ml gives a full week writing time (more than two converters)... About clips, well they help when the pen is to be carried about, but the beauty of the shape is somewhat disturbed by this artificious addition. So, no real need to have a clip on it if you have a good protective pouch to carry it around.

And here I thought you'd need a bandolier for them. lticaptd.gif

Stunning examples of Danitrio urushi--thanks for sharing!

I noticed the seam towards the bottom end of the barrel. Are these eye droppers, cartridge filers, or piston fillers?
Jopen
Mikado are ED's and the seam corresponds to the end which is used to control flow and the shut-off valve.

Ah, of course. Sorry--I had a bamboo moment. wink.gif
