I'm completely new to this "FP-addiction", but I must admit that today when the FPN forum was down (was it only for me or all of you had the same problem?) I... I don't know what stepped into me, but... since I couldn't read all these posts I went to eBay and ended up buying three pens... blush.gif Good thing is they were really cheap ones so my budget didn't collapce, but pls keep these blackouts to minimum, ok? So that I could have my everyday portion of reading instead of going into the wild to hunt something smile.gif
Thank you all here for sharing your knowledge and various thoughts.

...just of pure curiousity: why are like 50% of pens on eBay advertised as "RARE"?? Which is particularly funny when you do a search on them and it hits 100+ items... Just such little thought as I am editing a book on marketing right now smile.gif

Welcome to FPN, finansista.

In my opinion, I think the term 'rare' has been overused.

Greetings and welcome from NYC!

I must say that on rare occasions, while eating a rare steak in the rare mountain air, I sometimes show a rare talent and a rare display of courage (not to mention rare tact) in approaching my rarest of the rare better half when I spy a rare pen on the internet. I wish to point out again, that this rarely occurs. (Believe that and you are a rare individual).

I know how to spot something rare because I was reared that way.

I do hope your visits to the FPN are not rare.

Hello and welcome to the forum from us here in the Caribbean.

Rare is greatly exaggerated. Buy what you like, like what you buy.

I tend to keep an eye out for unusual and out of print books on ebay and its incredible how often you see the rare title there too

its basically to instill that desperation emotion that if you dont win this one that's it - you'll never get the chance to own it ever again

unless - as you say - you have the sense to search ebay and then find the other 1000 or so that are listed biggrin.gif

I actually emailed a seller once and asked them why they had a book that is readily available from its website for about $30 less than he was selling a 2nd hand one listed as rare.......... he replied that not many people had my information i.e. knew you could buy them direct so for them the book WAS a rare find.... ! and a money maker of course
