You just never know...

Up from my father-in-law's filthy basement, a complete surprise...five little 1960s boxes of mint NOS Sheaffers. (Four with pens, one empty.)

-Imperial VII burgundy with a gold-filled cap, upswept inlaid nib, medium to fine.

-Gold-plated Imperial set, FP and pencil.

-Gold-plated Imperial Tektor Tip marker.

-And the best of all...a mint NOS Imperial Soverign with 14k gold-filled body, medium nib.

I was under-represented in Sheaffer, now I'm not! At least the 1960s-1970s anyway.

He must have scooped these up from jewelry stores when he was trying to find NOS watches to buy.

I inked the burgundy as it's more my style than the all-gold ones. Can't rush into things.

How weird...well, kept me off eBay for the night!

I'll try and post some photos over the weekend with the boxes. They must all be from late 60s - early 70s based on the graphics etc.

I think the "missing" pen is a silver Imperial with the barleycorn pattern, the pen that was "Sheaffer's Parker 75." As a boy, I didn't like the diagonal weave of these as much as the "grid" look of the Parker 75, and I still prefer the 75. But the gold filled finish version on the Soverign is kind of cool.

I wonder where the silver one crept off to...some lucky leprachaun in the past.
