Is that interesting looking "V" shaped visconti bottle worth the money? I ordered one of the plastic bottles (just because you get more ink for less money).

You've just answered your own question.
It is worth it if you think its either a work of art or that you care about getting the last of the ink out of it
But even with second since it is nearly 3 times as much its cheaper to buy another bottle. So really its only whether you think that its a piece of art that you would like.
I have one piece of art and one plastic bottle - go figure!!!
Cheers

Order a glass bottle just to have this nice thing sitting on your desk and when it's empty, order the plastic bottles to refill it!

I really like the bottles for ease of filling pens. Some of my pens have very large nibs, and the Visconti bottles work well with them. I like to transfer some of my Herbin inks to the empty Visconti bottles, since the Herbin bottles are less than useful. For me the price is worth it.

But is the ink in the plastic bottles the same as the ink in the fancy glass bottle?
I would suggest not.
The ink in Visconti cartridges is defeinitely not the same as the ink in the fancy glass bottle.
The ink in the plastic bottles is marketed as Visconte van Gogh ink.
You should buy the ink that you like, not because of the bottle.

o that is very interesting....well according to Pendemonium.com, which sells both, its the same ink. Swisher Pens also states its the same ink in a more economical size.

I'd say "yes" if you can find the older 75ml bottles instead of the new 40ml bottles. I think that's the size of the new ones - the price I paid was the same for both sizes - $15. As mentioned above the bottles make it easier to fill pens with large nibs and also makes it easier to use more of the ink because of the tapered bottom. That same shape does make them a little 'top heavy' though. I leave mine in the box when I fill my pens so that they won't tip over. Since I now have the nice glass bottles (75ml size) for the colors I want, I'll buy the ink in the new plastic containers at a much lower price and use them to fill the glass bottles once they are empty or approach being empty.

There's no mention of Van Gogh on the plastic bottles I have. I had gobs of them.

Oh, and the glass bottles? Those of us who live in earthquake country tend to find that they make us nervous, even though they'd be good for filling large-nibbed pens.

Try Airline International at
http://airline.stores.yahoo.net/viscontiink.html. The picture of the box is correct, I assume they still have the old bottles (75ml). That's what is pictured at least. You may wish to call them to confirm.

I've got some of the plastic refills and three of the glass bottles. I like the looks of the glass and the ease of filling large nibbed pens. I use the plastic bottles for refilling the glass ones. My glass ones have no mention of Van Gogh. As to the stability of the glass ones, I often leave them in the decorative, sturdy boxes in which they come when I'm refilling a pen.

Well it seems that the webpage hasn't been updated to get rid of the pictures of the old box and bottle. All they have for sale is the 40ml bottle.

Right! I do the same thing. I forgot to mention it, and I think it should be reenforced since it makes life with Visconti bottles a lot more worry free.

Oh, why on earth do companies do that? I bought some cartridges a while back as a "sampler", to see if it would be worth it to buy a bottle. Sheesh. What is the difference between the cartridge and bottle ink, then?

It's a different shade of blue. I was using blue Visconti cartridges and then I bought a fancy glass bottle of lue Visconti ink. On the same paper they are different colours. That's all that I know. Maybe others know more about it.
